Matcha is healthy and has been consumed since ancient times. Originally Tea originates from Southeast Asia. All tea comes from the same tea bush (Camellia sinensus). However, the way it's processed determines the type of tea it becomes.
The starter set contains the following:
- Bowl (chawan) to prepare the matcha in.
- Bamboo matcha whisk to froth the matcha

Bamboo matcha whisk
This original Japanese whisk is essential for creating the perfect foam on your matcha. It's handmade from a single piece of bamboo, split into fine hairs. The more hairs the whisk has, the finer the matcha foam will be. Basic matcha whisks have 80 hairs. The Matcha Man's matcha whisk has a whopping 100 hairs, for a silky-smooth result.
To ensure that the whisk stays in good shape and lasts longer, it is best to place it on a whisk holder !
Bamboo spoon
The Japanese matcha bamboo spoon, also called a chashaku, is a traditional bamboo spoon used in preparing matcha. The bamboo spoon is used in conjunction with a matcha whisk and a matcha bowl.

Matcha fits into a healthy lifestyle!
The better the quality of matcha, the higher the content of antioxidants, amino acids, and other nutrients. When you consume matcha, you drink the green part of the leaf, which contains all those nutrients. This is in contrast to regular green tea, where you remove the tea leaves before drinking.
In addition, matcha contains a quarter less caffeine than a cup of coffee, but due to the slow release of caffeine it provides an energy boost for up to 6 hours.
This also makes matcha and intermittent fasting a great combination. Read more about intermittent fasting and matcha in Blog 11 .
Matcha from The Matcha Man consists of 100% matcha without any external additives.
Preparation of matcha
-
Fill the matcha bowl halfway with hot water and insert your bamboo whisk. This will soften it, creating a more attractive foam after frothing. The bowl will heat up, preventing the prepared matcha from cooling down too quickly. After 1 minute, empty the bowl and dry it thoroughly.
-
Using a bamboo spoon , add the right amount of matcha to the bowl and make a paste with a little water and the whisk.
- Fill the bowl with 60-90 ml of water at a maximum temperature of 80 C°
-
Use the whisk to make W-shaped motions, avoiding the sides and bottom. These motions are controlled by your wrist. Stop when a nice layer of foam forms on top of the matcha. The fewer bubbles in the foam, the better the result.
